Do you know a graduate?

Here is a great three-part gift idea that they will appreciate and you will feel good about giving:

A copy of Oh, The Places You’ll Go by Dr Seuss
(everyone enjoys this book)
A check for some amount of cash
(that’s what the graduate really wants)
Insert in the book
(printed in a fancy font and on special paper) this advice:

Never deprive someone of hope; it might be all they have.
Don't major in minor things.
Take care of your reputation. It's your most valuable asset.
Never underestimate the power of a kind word or deed.
Watch for big problems. They disguise big opportunities.
Talk slowly, but think quickly.
Turn enemies into friends by doing something nice for them.
Remember that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
Never ignore evil.
Never let the odds keep you from pursuing what you know in your heart you were meant to do.
Protect your enthusiasm from the negativity of others.
Never resist a generous impulse.
Have a firm handshake.
Look people in the eye.
If in a fight, hit first and hit hard.
Always accept an outstretched hand.
Be brave. Even if you're not, pretend to be. No one can tell the difference.
Make it a habit to do nice things for people who will never find out.
Give people a second chance, but not a third.
Be a good loser.
Be a good winner.
Be modest. A lot was accomplished before you were born.
Be bold and courageous. You'll regret the things you didn't do more than the ones you did.
Once in a while, take the scenic route.
Make someone's day by paying for the coffee for the person in the line behind you.
Become someone's hero.
Remember that 80% of the success in any job is based on your ability to deal with people.
Don't expect life to be fair.
Enjoy the ride.

Don’t be surprised if your graduate gets more out of your list and remembers it longer than they did the cash. Go ahead and add to the list before you give it.
